Modern tourism was expanded throughout the world due to improvements made in railroad technology. Imperialism and colonialism both benefited from this technology, which promoted modernization and tourism development in non-Western areas. The aim of this paper is to clarify the development of modern tourism in colonial Taiwan. The first part of this article focuses on the development of tourism in colonial Taiwan. The second part of this article will examine the development of tourism in the second half of the colonial period through an analysis of the "Taiwan Railroad Tourist Guide."
The Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) was developed by Downs & Hazen (1977), which measures the communication satisfactory factor of an organization in various industries. The CSQ has not been used in the hospitality including hotel industry. This research investigated the communication satisfactory factor of the employee in hotel industry using CSQ, and clarified causal relationship of job satisfaction and productivity using the structural equation modeling. Seven communication satisfactory factors were extracted in this research. These factors have affected job satisfaction and productivity.
