JOURNAL FREE ACCESSAlthough it is essential for the development of planning of tourist resorts to have more knowledge of the characteristics of pedestrian behavior of tourists, not very much research has been done yet. In this report, the results of a review of literature in this field are presented and subsequently examined from the 'logic of tourism' - point of view. By doing so, I will try to indicate topics and directions of future research in this field. These can be summarized as follows: 1)There is a need to accumulate more knowledge in this field. 2)Development of a research methodology. 3)More qualitative analysis is needed on how characteristics of the spatial structure determine pedestrian behavior. 4)The results of research should be used more in future planning of tourist resorts.View full abstractDownload PDF (1214K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSAbout 500.000 hill tribe people are living in the mountain areas of the northern part of Thailand, and the number of foreign trekkers to hill tribe villages has been increasing annually since late 1960s. This trekking tour has some negative impacts on their life and culture, while it gives them a considerable amount of economic benefits. It is reccommendable that tourism will contribute to the upgrading of their standard of living hereafter, taking its negative aspects into consideration.View full abstractDownload PDF (1169K)
