Strategy Pallet of Boston Consulting Group categorizes strategy approaches into quadrants with 2 axes: “whether you can predict business-environment change or not” and “whether you can modify business environment or not,” recommending thinking flow suitable for each approach, while Sasoh (2019) categorizes thinking also into quadrants with 2 axes: “creation or optimization” and “intrinsic or extrinsic.” I discuss similarity and difference between these categorization.
