Looking back on 40 years of involvement in medical informatics and hospital management. It was my greatest pleasure to be able to build an electronic medical record system of Nagoya University Hospital in 2002. The realization of one medical record for a lifetime is an issue. In hospital management, the main purpose is to increase the value of hospitals. To perform this purpose, it is important to recognize the gap between the current situation and what it should be. The behavior changes to do the effort to reduce the gap are important. This practice can increase the value of the hospital.

The expectations for information systems supporting the cooperations between medical care providers have been growing. But its usage has not made much headway. One of the reasons to prevent the spread is that it is difficult to integrate processes that have each historical background. This paper points out four perspectives for integrating processes referring to the case study of production information systems. The first is that it is necessary to make a distinction between “integration of processes” and “integrated management of processes”. The Second is that it is necessary to search control indicator for measuring the performance of integrated processes. The third is that it is necessary to clarify responsibility and authority of each department that carries out the processes. The fourth is that the three approaches of process management, information management and organization management must be integrated with each other.

Local healthcare information sharing is critical for social disaster recovery and pandemic protection. However, information sharing among local medical institutes is still underutilized in Japan and the United States. We studied the present situation and challenges in the electronic exchange of health information based on a literature review. Moreover, we conducted a multiple regression analysis about factors that affect information sharing diffusion among hospitals in the USA. General expenditure of states per capita, average hospital size, and percent of all hospitals that have adopted a certified health electronic record are significant factors. We explain and discuss the result.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify how information and communication technology in training of social workers is utilized. Textbook review results show that include various topics about ICT such as information security and digital divide for training of social workers. The results also show that word processor software, recording by PC or tablet, and gathering information on the Internet is most frequently used by social workers. The authors propose that longer term training and service user perspective to develop ICT literacy in student Social workers is necessary.

This research implemented prototypes for deep learning application of medical information and medical images. The prototypes have differences in the results, and it was necessary to repeat several trials for learning and evaluation of deep learning. These repeat processes are called PoC - “Proof of Concept”. Repeated approach leads to higher project costs, especially in small projects and SMEs. This research suggests that this factor makes difficult to adopt deep learning services.

This report presents and discusses the results of data analysis conducted as part of the survey “Understanding the Realities of Online Classes during COVID-19.” It examines both lecture-only classes and case studies of students actually operating PCs. Both quantitative numerical data as well as textual data were analyzed in this study. Along with supporting the results of the traditional analysis of numerical data, the addition of textual data to the analysis also had the effect of identifying often-buried opinions by picking up keywords of further interest. The survey revealed that online classes during COVID-19 are not merely a stopgap measure, but a gateway to the digital transformation (DX) of education. As we return to a post-pandemic normal, rather than simply returning to the conventional face-to-face format of classes, there is a need to consider that we have entered a new era of university education and devise ways to utilize highly flexible methods of conducting classes.

The ability to cope with work in the DX era is examined in this paper from the viewpoint of junior college information literacy education. First, an overview of how information literacy is understood is presented. Following that, the positioning of junior colleges and the status of management information system education are confirmed. Then, we conduct two surveys, one on companies that hire junior college students and the other on junior college students, and demonstrate that junior college graduates play an important role in local companies. Moreover, further consideration will be needed to yield any findings about rethinking of junior college information literacy education equivalent to university in view of curriculum.

In the tire manufacturing process, as an example of manufacturing where humans and machines intervene and information is shared among processes, we applied two flowchart types and one matrix type, which are visualization methods, to the production process in order to address the issue of production volume not increasing as much as expected at tire manufacturing plants in developing countries. The purpose of this study is to clarify the methods. In addition, we analyze three visualization methods and conduct a questionnaire survey of local staff to determine which visualization method is most effective, and find a methodology for production process reengineering.
