Many reports exist of educational practices that introduce experiments and manufacturing into lessons for the purpose of promoting students' motivation for learning, supporting their independent learning, and training their problem solving ability. Various teaching materials are developed to support these teaching and learning activities. We have developed a multimedia learning support system of ultra micro-wind turbines. This system consists of teaching material concerning fundamental knowledge and theory of wind turbines, the database and the software program for predicting wind turbines' performance. Ultra micro-wind turbines of 220-mm diameter are produced from paper; the database is produced based on experimental values of their performance. The software program for predicting wind turbines' performance is developed based on this database. Students learn fundamental knowledge and theory of wind turbines and refer both to results predicted by the software program and to actual data of the database; then they produce wind turbines using paper. Effectiveness of these three kinds of teaching materials is software program was verified through these students' activities.

It is important to think for students to consider the difference between the virtual reality on CAD and the real object as product using 3D-CAD/CAM. Even the basic operations of 3D-CAD can be quite complicated therefore it takes much time to get used to these basic operations. The purpose of this course is to teach the students what to do through these operations. It is to make students understand the meaning of these basic operations such as what set-ups the students do and what the set-ups are connected to. We have developed the following teaching aids used in this course:

The selection invention has close positions between patentability and unpatentability, or validity and invalidity, because the subject matter of the invention had known as to the generic concept. Therefore, it seems to consider as lacking of novelty or inventive step and these judgment accompany with many difficulties and arguments. However, the selection invention has the vital and important limitations to a competitor in the art. If the specification can have more convincing disclosure to the technical criticality of the definition against prior art, the invention able to acquire the patent right. Consequently, the selection invention is possible to have strong enforceability against the competitor.

The atmospheric railway is one of challenged projects of Isambard Kingdom Brunei who was a British engineer, 1806 to 1859. It was designed and directed by him from the standpoints of environmental benefits, such as no-noise, no-smoke, no-spew, and no-slip on steep gradient. The mechanism to wheel the train was based on the atmospheric force, which was induced by a piston in the pipeline evacuated by steam vacuum pumps. The atmospheric railway was serviced in the line from Exeter to Newton Abbot of the SDR in 1847-48. It is written in references that the trains of atmospheric railway run in VOmph (112km/h) under a weight of 28tones. The railway, however, was abandoned by troubles of air leakage through the slit at the top of the pipeline. In this paper, the mechanism of the system among piston, cylinder, and valve was discussed and the mechanism of impulse in the atmospheric railway was examined by mechanics of movement.

The European countries and the USA can be called nations well advanced in the museum field, and many of them have devised various methods of exhibition of historical technology and industry data. Often, the data are not just exhibited in the static condition. For example, they are exhibited in the operating condition, or the information about the exhibition is acquired only when a visitor does a certain operation. This research reports some of such exhibitions in the museums of the UK, France, Germany, and the United States.

The history of Former Ikegai Iron Works are reviewed especially on the productive works of Diesel engines. Engineer dream of the president Shotaro-Ikegai of the company, was production of mother machines for the domestic country. He was a so skill full and so excellent wise engineer that he had started to produce reciprocal engine energized with fuel materials beside of works of mother machine-shop. The first realization of production of diesel engine in Japan was taking place in his iron works, modifying commercial engine inported in Japan from Deutschrand. By such industrial activities, he and his followers had established the Ikegai konzern around 1940in Japan, in which the Ikegai automobile company was established. After the second world war, the Ikegai works had been fallen in severe economical situations. Those historical problems with developing technology of Diesel-engines are reviewed briefly.

The Engine department of the Gas-Den, predecessor of the Hino Motors, Ltd. was reorganized as the Tokyo Automobile Industries Co. and the Hitachi Aero plane Co. in 1937 and 1939 respectively. In 1938, Japanese Navy ordered the production of German trainer "Biicker Jungman" to Kyushu Aero plane Co. and of its engine "Hirth HM504" to Gas-Den Co. respectively based on a license agreement. Although the Gas-Den (Hitachi) produced more than 1300 engines under the name of "Hatsukaze (First Wing)" for both Japanese Navy and also Army, but it was completely redesigned by Gas-Den. Its unique design was based on Gas-Den's own know-how and production technology. Hino Motors restored it by its original engine that was preserved in Hamamatsu base of Japanese Self Defense Air Force. This paper describes structure of "Hatsukaze" with comparison of original "Hirth HM504" and philosophy of technology transfer.

Alongside Thomas Telford, bambard Kingdom Brunei and Robert Stephenson are regarded as the greatest engineers of the early Victorian age. While George and Robert Stephenson represented the main stream of railway engineering that had emerged from coal mines in northern England, I. K. Brunei was a brave challenger willing to introduce new techniques that were disliked by the orthodox engineers. The achievements of I. K. Brunei and Robert Stephenson in railway engineering were probably almost equally-matched, but Brunei's bold and determined attempts such as the introduction of broad gauge and atmospheric traction still attract many people.
