    In this study, carbon fiber (CF)/polyamide 6 (PA 6) fabric laminates molded by in-situ polymerization using ε-caprolactam were evaluated. To investigate the effect of the CF sizing agent on their molecular weight distributions of PA 6 in the CF/PA 6 laminates and their mechanical properties, we removed the sizing agent by a surface heat treatment before the in-situ polymerization molding. The concentrations of monomer and oligomer in the CF/PA 6 fabric laminates (carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastics (CFRTP)) using fabric applied with the pretreatment were lower than those having no pretreatment. The molecular weights of matrix resin in the CFRTPs in which sizing agent was removed were higher than those having no pretreatment. Bending strength and tensile strength of CFRTPs with the pretreatment were higher than those with no pretreatment. Those results indicate the effect of the sizing agent of CF on molecular weight distributions and mechanical properties of CFRTP. A heat surface treatment is an effective method for decreasing unreacted components and increasing mechanical strength.
