This study aims to establish hydrogen storage and supply system for residence. We devised new hydrogen system without heat exchange to supply and store hydrogen, which has better energy efficiency than conventional hydrogen storage system. Firstly, hydrogen absorbing alloys were selected as a hydrogen storage material which is easy to handle (no heat exchange) and safer to use (at normal pressure).Characteristics of hydrogen supply and storage were examined by an experiment. Secondly, basic hydrogen supply and storage performance tests of the system were conducted. Finally, the hydrogen powered fuel cell was operated by the system to determine duration time of constant hydrogen supply. The results suggested that the system can operate hydrogen powered fuel cell at normal temperature and pressure.

But, it is difficult to use a slot outlet with full length between two side walls for an actual system. This paper presents a new Coanda Effect using nozzles instead of a slot. The combined three-dimensional jets from nozzles could produce a plane jet. We proved possibility of the method as an effective local space air conditioning system for large indoor spaces.

We measured room and supply air temperature in the office space where both air conditioning systems were introduced. Both systems had almost the same average of indoor temperature but multi-split type air conditioning system had more considerable change of room temperature during 30 minutes. This was caused by the variation of supply air temperature changed between 8 and 18 deg during 30 minutes in part load operation at room cooling mode.

Indoor temperature of each areawas almost the same. In cooling period, energy consumption of south area increased according to increase of operating value and outdoor temperature. However, energy consumption of north area was large without relating to operating value when outdoor temperature was 30〜35℃.

Information systems play an important role in today's advanced information society. The concentration and performance of the information processing devices that make up these systems are increasingly rapidly, and this has led to an increase in the heat concentration of Data Centers as well. For this reason, air conditioning systems for Data Centers must offer a high level of reliability to constantly maintain appropriate room temperatures. In this paper, we will use the previously proposed calculation method to conduct the following studies, targeting cases in which the systems have actually been implemented. 1) Simulation to grasp the reliability characteristic in the system. 2) The factor given to the reliability of an air-conditioning system is grasped using the Taguchi method.

Significantly lower skin moisture was observed at low absolute humidity. Extremely low humidity caused subjective dryness sensation. Greater dryness sensation at lower temperature were observed among the conditions with constant absolute humidity.Female subjects reported greater discomfort and fatigue due to environmental humidity than males.

Conventional desiccant air-conditioning systems are adopted on mainly large scale buildings such as offices and hotels. They have rotors for desiccant and sensible heat exchange. They therefore require a bit large machine room for air-conditioning. However, for detached houses there are not enough space for AC, so that a new air-conditioning system for substituting for rotor types is required. In this paper, as prerequisites for development of residential desiccant air-conditioning system, the moisture adsorption/desorption characteristic in a detached model house was analyzed by TRNSYS simulation coupled with COMIS. We compared the absolute humidity, the quantity of moisture absorption, the annual latent heat load, the cumulative ratio of relative humidity over 70%, the occurrence of condensation in room with or without silica gel.

The method of membrane distillation under vacuum was selected from the several means of regeneration available, excluding evaporation by heating. The aim of this study is to develop an air conditioning system in which dehumidification is separated from the cooling process. Wet air is dehumidified by honeycomb desiccant materials. The adsorbed vapor is then desorbed by using low temperature exhaust heat obtained from thermal energy storage. The mass transfer coefficient of a honeycomb desiccant material is estimated at 1.0x10^<-5> m/s by an experiment. It is found that a two-step desiccant process enables to decrease the temperature of regeneration to 53 ℃, whereas a single desiccant process needs the temperature of 90 ℃. The use of the exhaust heat can lead to reduction of energy consumption for regeneration about 26 % in such a dehumidification system.

The objective of this study is to propose a method of detecting and diagnosing faults in an architectural environmental system such as the combination of a building, the HVAC system, and the lighting system. Our final goal is to establish a method of constructing new rules for detection and diagnosis, which is not defined in advance, on-the-fly from empirical data and knowledge. This paper describes the results of preparatory studies towards a robust and reliable method. Cluster analysis is employed for fault detection and the aspect inference method is employed for fault diagnosis. We confirm that the combination the proposed method works well with artificial test data for fault detection and diagnosis.

This paper proposes a method of knowledge acquisition about building environmental system from a list of measurement points in a Building Energy Management System (BEMS). The final goals is to construct a robust and flexible method of detecting and diagnosing faults in architectural environmental from BEMS data. A logical grammar is employed to parse the name of measurement point and translate it into the logical expression. A set of logical expression represents a part of architectural environmental system.Together with the ontology of physical and empirical laws about HVAC, the set is used for detection and diagnosis of faults.

In this paper, to understand the behavior that the HVAC equipment showed in faulty operation, various artificial faults were generated. This data in faulty operation was collected with a remote data collection device introduced already reported. And fault diagnosis method for HVAC equipment is developed with Support Vector Machine (SVM) and BMS. By this, the early stage detection and correspondence of faulty operation become possible. It aims at the reduction in cost and time to spend on fault diagnosis.

We practiced .thermal measurement outdoors using solar reflective materials that have the potential to suppress heat-island effect. Solar reflectance is calculated by heat balance in one case that samples are horizontal and the other case that samples are inclined so that the angle of incidence is almost normal incidence (about 7degree).We estimate that retroreflective components are 4 to 14 percent for bead-embedded type, 17 to 19 percent for capsule-lens type, and 23 to 30 percent for prism-array type.

We conducted experimental analyses and verification of the effects of a Drag-reducing (DR) substance that reduces the heat transportation power of air-conditioning. We confirmed the influence of the DR substance on straight and partial piping and the heat exchange performance. Moreover,we examined the amount of energy reduction and the decrease of environmental load when the DR substance is introduced into existing equipment and confirmed its effectiveness.

An experiment for ventilation was carried out in a full-scale test house. The aim of this study was to examine the ventilation measurement method via human expiration. The adopted method is able to measure multi-zone airflow rates. Airflow rate between rooms was controlled and outdoor airflow rate was measured with the test house. The rate of outdoor airflow entering the house and the airflow rate between the rooms were estimated by the ventilation measurement method via human expiration based on system identification theory. The estimated results were compared with the measurement results in order to validate its accuracy.

As our country's energy consumption of civilian sector of institutional ure construct is increasing therefore reduce of energy consumption of heat source system is required. However, actual condition of energy utilization efficiency of heat source system of current institutional use construct are unrevealed. In this report, high accuracy heat source equipment with built in simplified thermal measurement unit will be development by measuring the differential pressure and temperature difference of the chilled/hot inletioutlet water of the absorption chiller and the result of measurement accuracy validation at the factory will be reported
