Four species of Heteroscyphus (Geocalycaceae; Hepaticae) are reported from the Philippines on the basis of collections made by Dr. and Mrs. A. J. Sharp and Dr. Z. Iwatsuki in 1965. Heteroscyphus splendens and H. aselliformis are new additions to the known hepatic flora of Luzon, Philippines.

We reexamined the type specimen of Calypogeia tosana Steph. var. septentrionalis S. Hatt. from Rishiri Island, Hokkaido, Japan, and confirmed that this variety is conspecific with Calypogeia angusta Steph. Therefore, C. tosana var. septentrionalis is a synonym of C. angusta Steph.

Rhachithecium perpusillum (Thwaites & Mitt. in Mitt.) Broth. is added to the moss flora of Japan. The species is closely related to R. nipponicum (Toyama) Wijk & Margad., but has well developed peristome teeth. It was found on branches of Diospyros kaki, at about 600 m alt., Magome, Yamaguchi-mura, Nagano-ken, central Japan. Description (in Japanese) and illustrations of this species are given.
