Japanese plants known as Pohlia camptotrachela was revealed to be P. annotina mainly based on the shape of their propagules. In addition, the real P. camptotrachela, even though rarely distributed, was confirmed its occurrence in Japan. Artificial key to all Japanese propaguliferous Pohlia was provided as well as short comments on each species.
Encalypta trachymitra Rip. is added to the moss flora of Japan. The species is related to E. rhaptocarpa Schwaegr., but has obtuse leaf apex and has no hyaline hair point. Its peristome teeth are yellow and sparsely papillose. It was found on soil in the alpine region of Mt. Kitadake, Honshu, Japan. Description in Japanese and illustrations of the species are given.
Genus Gyroweisia Schimp. was newly found in Japan. Two species of Gyroweisia, G. tenuis (Hedw.) Schimp. and G. reflexa (Brid.) Schimp. are added to the moss flora of Japan. Description (in Japanese) and illustrations of two species are given. These two species were found on calcareous rocks in central and northern Honshu and Hokkaido, Japan. Distinguishing characters of these two species from Gymnostomum calcareum are discussed.
