Fissidens longisetus Griff. is added to the moss flora of Japan. The species is related to F. tosaensis Broth. and F. bryoides var. lateralis (Broth.) Z. Iwats. & Tad. Suzuki, but has longer setae and symmetrical capsules. Fissidens longisetus was originally described from Assam, India by Griffith, and later found in Nepal and China (Tibet). Description in Japanese and illustrations of the specie are given.
