JETRO International Trade Information Center, which has been collecting overseas materials about trade and industry, and has been rendering services to the business circles as a specialized library, has systematized the information processing and services and introduced a set of computers for information retrieval. The demand from the business circles is greater for directories and statistics than for input information obtained from newspapers and magazines, but the demand for the latter tends to increase. Good use of information from this center is made mainly by big enterprises of such Japanese exportstrategic industries as electric, steel and so on, but not by the business circles related to food. It is due to specific reasons of the circles. If, however, the fields of input information are multiplied, or the circumstances of trade and industry change, IR services will be used by the industry related to food more often, too.
