In the Gumma university library, most of housekeeping works have been run by its own mini-computer OKITAC 4500C since April 1973. This system has been adopted as a part of the modernization planning for national university libraries. The aim is limited to computer processing of ordinary housekeeping works, excluding classification for materials and cataloging as card style, not to mention IR and Document Retrievals. The jobs to be handled are 1. Budgeting-Control 2. Acquisition 3. Cataloging as note style 4. Management of periodicals 5. Circulation Control and 6. Reference. Among above mentioned 1-4 are by batch processing, and 5 & 6 by real time processing. These jobs are closely related to each other, a total system for their processing is now being studied.
