In the Library of Osaka University, most works, excluding cataloging and reference service, have been done with its own small computer (FACOM 230/15) since April 1972. A main feature of this operational system is that, while circulation services are done, other operations such as acquisition, accounting, listing up and misc. statistics can be achieved at the same time. The on-line real time system, incorporating a cathode-ray tube display terminal and a data collector (for borrower's cards and book cards), is the first of this kind in Japan.
