The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether there is a demand for comprehensive learning at the Chiba City Life-long Learning Center, and whether that demand could be met. As a result of this research, the following two points became clear. First, there were demands for research materials, the latest multi-media environment and facility staff. Secondly, these demands could be handled by cooperating with the central library. These results lead to the suggestion that, with a life-long learning facility providing a space which supports comprehensive learning, this space became a foothold for life-long learning.

It is expected that learning with hypermedia will promote the constructivism approachs for the learning. Since the computer network has been established, cooperative learning is just realized to enhance the learning with hypermedia. In cooperative learning using hypermedia, learners will be able to get into the creative learning situation with their interest, independence and positive attitude. In this paper, several possibilities of cooperative learning using hypermedia on creative learning are reviewed following by analyzing of learner's sociability. As a result, cooperative learning using hypermedia is the preferential model for learners with social skills. And it is the compensatory model for those of less social skills. So that it is expected that cooperative learning using hypermedia will promote the motivation, creativity, independence, and positive attitude for learners.

In this paper the development of a multimedia digital content for intellectual resources for the Ocean Research Institute of The University of Tokyo (ORI) is described. The ORI is one of the Japan's Centers of Excellence (COE). It is important that universities and research organizations open their intellectual resources to the public coping with the lifelong education. National Institute of Multimedia Education (NIME) has put these resources into effect through open university, for the development of digitizing techniques for intellectual resources. The realization to recycle existing broadcast materials for application to on-line distance learning courses is one of the characteristics of this media. Effective digitizing techniques for intellectual resources are proposed to ORI.

The computer-aided teaching materials used in the microteaching class are developed by the number of students in a teacher training course. When they come to school for practical teaching, they use these materials in the class. Though the computers are personal study tools, the classroom activities here are done in groups. One of the student teachers carried out group activities using computers, and then did the teaching at junior high school through computer networks in the class. For this purpose, the system of collaborative learning on the networks in the classroom has been developed. This teaching material is developed for understanding the electric fields in physics, and constructed with following three functions; 1) promoting communication among students, 2) sharing the learning contents and results among all the members, and 3) presenting information for learning aids, for example the way to carry out experiments and that to measure the findings. With this study, the authors concluded that this material is very effective in teaching and learning.
