Teachers commonly prepare for classes by summarizing the learning materials in plain language and presenting them as keywords to the students. The web version of Key Words Meeting (KWM), an education and training support tool, is an interactive learning system that uses ICT to electronically gather data on students’ memory retention rates of keywords that teachers input into the system. In this study, the relationships between word counts, parts of speech, and memory retention rates were examined. Data was collected through KWM for an undergraduate engineering elective course from 2014 to 2018. Results showed that memory retention rates were higher when main keywords, which act as titles, had lower word counts and when sub-keywords, which supplement the main keywords, had higher word counts. Morphological analyses revealed that memory retention rates were higher when main keywords contained combinations of nouns and when sub-keywords contained combinations of parts of speech other than nouns. Results suggest that different combinations of parts of speech and word counts affect memory retention. Further research on the characteristics of teachers’ keywords that yield high memory retention rates may lead to improved learning and memory for students in classes.

When juvenile dementia develops, there are many cases of retirement after the onset. It is presumed that people with juvenile dementia have difficulty in continuing to work. Difficulty in continuing to work will have a significant impact on the individual and their family, both mentally and financially. It is important to create a system that allows people to continue working with peace of mind even if they have developed juvenile dementia. Therefore, we clarified the actual situation of continuous employment support for people with juvenile dementia in companies supporting juvenile dementia. We conducted a web-based, anonymous, self-administered questionnaire survey of 450 companies in Japan. The analysis was done by chi-square test between presence of employees with dementia and other variables.

The increase in dementia is remarkable due to aging. Due to changes in household composition, family roles have changed, and the number of men caring for wives and mothers with dementia is increasing. Older men tend to be unacceptable to rely on social resources and do not seek help because of their gender values when they find it difficult to care for dementia of family woman. Therefore, when an elderly man takes on a long-term care role, he may try to solve it himself. For older men, long-term care reduces ability to seek help, but the experience value of long-term care can increase self-esteem and help. As necessary support for elderly men who are caring for them, it is necessary to watch over each other in their daily lives, to make casual confirmations, and to create a mechanism to notice abnormalities without having deep involvement. In order for elderly men who have a job while caring for them to exert their ability to seek help, they should understand and accept men who do not want direct support from others, and establish a system to continue their work. Men who have experience in long-term care are considered to have confidence and confidence that they can solve the problems and have a high sense of self-efficacy and self-esteem from the experience of solving the problems of long-term care. Elderly men who had the experience value of long-term care could further enhance their self-efficacy, and men with a high self-efficacy were considered to have a high level of ability to seek help.

In this research healthcare software for personal health management is studied. Healthcare software gives appropriate advice based on personal health state. In previous research probability of staying in objective states is maximized under the condition that the true parameter of health state transition probability is known. But it is not always possible to know the true parameter. In this research a new method which maximizes the probability of staying in objective states under the condition that the true parameter is unknown is proposed. Markov decision processes with unknown state transition probability is used in modelling. In the proposed method dynamic programming is used in order to maximize the probability of staying in objective states. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by some computational examples. In the results probability of staying in objective states by the proposed method is greater than that of the comparison target.

Increasing profit is desired in Japanese agriculture. There is many previous research on profit maximization in agriculture. In a previous research crop rotation problem and cultivation management problem are solved as one integrated management problem in order to maximize the profit in agriculture. In the previous research the profit is maximized under the condition that growth states are known. But in smart agriculture with sensors the true growth states are unknown. In this research a new integrated management method for smart agriculture with sensors is proposed. The proposed method maximizes the profit under the condition that the growth states are unknown using Markov decision processes. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by some simulation examples. The profit of the proposed method is greater than that of the comparison target. In the results of the proposed method the adaptive selection according to the fluctuating crop price was confirmed. The proposed method is expected to contribute to the automation of decision making in smart agriculture. This research is a basic research, and future extended research is required.

The improvement of the accessibility is important in all the people to be able to use the Internet. In our previous study, we investigated the effect of luminance contrast on the perception and cognition process, and reported that the readability decreased as the luminance contrast decreased. However, it is possible that not only the luminance contrast but also the color difference affects readability. In this report, we investigated the effect of color difference on the perception and cognition process using EOG(Electro-oculogram) and EEG(Electroencephalogram) analysis. In particular, we examined the readability when chromatic characters of the same luminance were used on a white background. As a result, it was shown that color difference and saturation affect readability. In particular, it was shown that when character colors of the same luminance were used on a white background, the readability of character colors with wavelengths with high relative luminosity was improved. Considering the effect of luminance contrast on the perceptual cognitive process, it was shown that the combination of character colors with high readability on a white background is a character color with a large luminance contrast and a high relative luminosity.

This study aims to clarify the change in nursing students' motivation to learn about oral care by comparing first- and fourth-year students. A questionnaire was distributed to first- and fourth-year nursing students concerning their willingness to learn about oral care. Data were obtained from 71 valid responses and subsequently analysed. Results showed that the motivation to learn about oral care was higher in the fourth year than in the first year, but the difference was not significant. In the first year, those with higher levels of basic confidence tended to show greater interest in learning about oral care. Among fourth-year students, no similar relationship was found. The motivation to learn about oral care changed from the first year to the fourth year. The enjoyment of university life, the number of friends an individual has in the school, and the number of friends an individual has outside the school, are related factors. To increase nursing students' motivation to learn about dental care, it was necessary for them to enjoy university life and develop friendships. There is a need to educate students based on the circumstances surrounding the motivation to learn among first and fourth-year students as well as the identified related factors.

This study aimed to examine role recognition in various occupations involved in oral care. A questionnaire survey targeting 107 dentists, 85 dental hygienists, 113 speech therapists, 218 nurses, and 106 certified health care workers was conducted in Fukuoka Prefecture. A role recognition questionnaire comprising 21 items related to oral care was developed by the researchers. The questionnaire contained items on the degree of recognition regarding which occupation should implement each of the items related to oral care. Responses were rated on a three-point scale. As a result of comparing role recognition between occupations, significant differences were observed between dental specialists and other occupations in terms of cleaning (using a floss or interdental brush), plaque or tartar removal, fluorine application, cosmetic oral care, and oral examination. Certified health care workers tended to have significantly lower swallowing and language training than other people of other occupations. If occupations other than dental staff carry out oral cleaning and oral examinations using floss and interdental brushes, periodontal diseases can be prevented and abnormalities in the oral cavity can be detected early. Furthermore, the results suggest that the performances of nurses' and certified health care workers' swallowing and language training will allow for continuous training in occupational collaboration and contribute to healthy life expectancy.

This study aimed to assess the relationship of the learning score obtained with the web version of the education and training support system Key Words Meeting (KWM) in respect to the periodic examination results in a given subject of study and to the simulated examination results, on questions in national examinations for medical radiology technician radiation chemistry classes. The periodic examinations were taken in the second year by 68 students, and the simulated examinations were taken in the third year by 61 students. The correlation coefficient (ρ) between learning score and periodic examination results was 0.233 (p=0.055) and between learning score and radiochemistry simulated examination was 0.374 (p<0.01), thus showing significant positive correlation. The periodic examination result was found to correlate significantly with the sociality basic points (ρ=0.407) and additional points (ρ=0.261) of the learning score. Correlation of the radiochemistry result in the simulated examination was also found with respect to the sociality basic points (ρ=0.255) and additional points (ρ=0.294), to the submission basic points (ρ=0.298) and additional points (ρ=0.334), and to the continuous-learning basic points (ρ=0.315) and additional points (ρ =0.316), thus all aspects of learning score evaluation showed significant positive correlation. In the subject of study, the averages of the obtained learning score and periodic examination results score were respectively 89.7 and 78.3, and 7 students failed to attain 60 points in the periodic examination results. The seven underachievers included three who were higher than average in learning score but less than 60 in periodic examination results and four who were lower than average in learning score and less than 60 in periodic examination results. This indicates that observing the learning score, visualizing the individual learning processes, and ascertaining whether the student is motivated to learn and identifying the cause of underachievement can enable effectively focused consideration of underachievers. The quantification of learning activity of student leads to improve their ability and motivation of learning in an early stage, such as in the middle of lecture course.
