A series of experiments of Qi-water was conducted to investigate the outer Qi radiated by Qi sender and the characteristics of outer Qi. Spending 17 days in total, the experiments have been carried out on 10 Qi senders. Firstly, Qi water gained from each Qi sender was kept in constant temperature bath of 40±1℃. We measured the conductivity of each water with the operational amplifying water analyzer. Then the value was assessed in comparison with the control. (1) When the changes of each value were assessed hourly, the result showed three different types of curves, that is increasing, constant, and decreasing, even though all Qi senders put Qi into each water simultaneously with the same method. (2) However when daily changes are assessed for those increased in hourly assessment, there were three types of changes, that is, decreasing after increasing, decreasing after some period of unchanging, and gradual but continuous decreasing. (3) The degree of these changes seemed to have nothing to do with Qi senders' self-consciousness. (4) There seemed the tendency that Qi is not put into the water which Qi senders does not perceive consciously or unconsciously. (5) There seemed another tendency that Qi is not put into purified water. This could mean that some ions and impurities need to exist in the water for the input of Qi. (6) Another tendency is that the outcome of the staring is larger than that of the hands shading.

The change of accelerated plethsmograph index (APG-index), that of unmonotonous conductivity of meridian points (AMI), and that of Electroencephalogram (EEG) of eleven Qi senders during emission of Qi were measured. Having spent a year and half for these experiments, we have obtained the following results. 1) APG-index and pulse rate of Qi senders significantly change during emission of Qi. Qi sender's physical status during emission of Qi was categorized into four types according to the simultaneous change of APG-index and pulse rate. These are Strain-Strain (SS), Relax-Strain (RS), Strain-Relax (SR), and Relax-Relax (RR) types. 2) No significant correlation was observed between the change of APG-index and that of AMI. 3) Interaction between Qi senders and receivers were tend to be synchronous in the change of APG. 4) The average and the standard distribution of Qi sender's conductivity before polarization (BP) increased sharply in the most cases of emitting Qi. 5) According to the Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT) of EEG, the shift of peak was observed in a wave range during emission of Qi.

Responsive electric current at 14 meridian of Qi-gongist and Qi-receiver was measured simultaneously and continually at Qi-gong operation by a single square voltage pulse technique. Some eminent synchronous phenomena were observed in AP and BP of both Qi-gongist and Qi-receiver. On Qi-gong operation, meridian related to blood circulation system, which is thought to be the pathway of Qi-flow was found to be sympathetic nerve excited, whereas meridian related to digestion system were parasympathetic nerve dominant. Striking difference between internal and external Qi-gong operation is that BP tend to increase at internal operation while decrease on external operation at all the meridian system of Qi-gongist.

Fourteen healthy male and female (mean age=44.1±9.6) performed Qi-gong practice. Active conditions of the autonornic nervous system and the cardiovascular system before and after Qi-gong practice following the stress were observed. Conditions of the autonomic nervous system and the cardiovascular system were estimated by analyses of heart rate variability and pulse waves at the radial artery. As a Qi-gong practice, subjects sat quietly with soft and natural breath and with concentration to a lower abdominal region. As a result, Qi-gong practice activated the condition of the vagal nerve. Qi-gong practice without any motion repressed the condition of the sympathetic nerve which controls temperature acting on peripheral circulation. Arteries tended to contract after stimuli of noise and dazzling lights. Meanwhile, after Qi-gong practice, arteries tended to converge into the moderate contraction (compliance).

The purpos of this study is the investigation of the practice and the evaluation of the dance therapy practiced with the psychiatric inpatients in the purpose of the creative self-expression. Taking three points i. e. 1) deliberation of the mind-body, 2) creative representation of the individual, 3) communication with others, as the functions of the dance as therapy, we constructed one session (60 minutes) with 5 parts, i. e. 1) folk dance, 2) movement exploration , 3) a practice of expression, 4) performing individual dances, 5) impression. From April 1991, we practiced the sessions twice in month for five to thirteen patients of different pathologies, as one class. VTR was recorded in every session , and, the data were the observation and evaluation of dance by the leader, patient's impressions after sessions and research about dance, and also observations of the treating doctors and impressions get after having seen the VTR. Folk-Dance was began in the form of a circle, by the verbal and non-verbal communication, an ambience (Ba), of Qi, is formed around the leader as a center. And when a medical doctor (=the author) was assisting there, "Ba" was slightly changed. This is because most of the participants were treated by the author. Between the beginning and the end of one session of dance, the great change of "Ba" took place, and after more sessions, the spiritual relationships between the patients and the leader became more intimate. The modification of patients after many sessions, is not caused simply by the physical repetitions. The characteristic of our dance sessions is the fact that this ambience of Qi (communication of spirits) is stressed and cared. In this study, the cases were 33 years old, and 42years old female patients. These two have commonly the tendencies of sensitive to the music, of finding pleasure in expressing them-selves freely, of appreciating others' dances, and of wanting include the good points of others' dances in their own. This common point is, in fact, of the same quality as the impression of the students in the experience of dance, and thus it became clear that for both A I. and K. O. the dance is a way of communication with others, and something that brings them desire and contentment of the self-expression, as for the students. Also, the treating doctor of these two says that attending to their dances is a chance of encounter to the aspects of the patients that the doctor had not known, and that the dance have a temporary effects on the affective and behavioral aspects of patients. Thus, we could say that the practice of the dance activity of the author with the patients is possible to be a psychiatric therapy in feeling the pleasure of creative self-expression which is a purpose, and this makes possible to call this activity dance therapy. We must add that the leader has not seen the medical documents and likings before to prevent the preconception, and the patients are of Bipolar disorder with personality disorder, and of schizoprenia. In this study, we have investigated the practice and the evaluation of dance therapy: afterwards, we will investigate the relationships between dance therapy and the evaluation of the disease, and its significance in the view of treatment.

The purposes of this study were firstly to observe relationship between positions of lower abdominal region (called "Seika-Tanden in Japanese) and whole-body centers of gravity (CGs) in five types of the correct sitting posture (called "Seiza" in Japanese) and the sitting postures crossing legs on four conditions (called "Kekkahuza" in Japanese), and secondly to compare these postures by degree of spinal curvature which had measured with a conformateur. Five types of "Seiza" was prescribed as follows: (1) Tanza: incorrected "Seiza", (2) Sokushinza: "Seiza" corrected with piling a top side in one foot on an arch of another foot, (3) Koushiza: "Seiza" corrected with crossing hallux, (4) Heishiza: "Seiza" corrected with placing toes side by side, (5) Yanagida's Seiza; "Seiza" in "Seitai-Hou". Four conditions on "Kekkahuza" were (1) non-cushion, (2) one cushion, (3) add one more cushion, (4) add two more cushions Estimation of CGs was based on H. Matsui's body segment parameters by means of pictures in profile. Positions of "Tanden" were obtained by T. Sato's drawing figure method. The subjects were eleven Judoist (on "Tanza","Sokushinza", "Koushiza" and "Heishiza"), a trained man in "Seitai-Hou" and two untrained men (on "T. Yanagida's Seiza") and a practician of "Zazen" (on "Kekkahuza"). The results were as follows; 1) As to characteristics in each posture estimated by degree of spinal curvature, "Tanza" characterized by a shape of that like an alphabet C, and the lumbar curvature was not found. On the other hand, the corrected "Seiza" ("Sokushinza", "Koushiza", "Heishiza" and "T. Yanagida's Seiza") and "Kekkahuza" expressed curvatures like an alphabet S that showed the same characteristics as a standing posture. 2) In both "Seiza" and "Kekkahuza", the positions of CGs located above the navels, and the heights of CGs were higher than those of "Tanden". 3) In "Seiza", the antero-posterior positions of CGs were more behind than those of "Tanden" (50.0%), but in the case of some subjects, those of CGs were close to of "Tanden" in "Heishiza" (47. 4%), especially for trained, both were fairly close to each other in "T. Yanagida's Seiza" (49.3%). 4) About "Kekkahuza", the antero-posterior positions of the CGs were in the rear of those of "Tanden" on all conditions (39.5-42.2%).

It has been said that there is no effective treatment on the chronic renal failure and angina pectoris. Here the authers opened the new curative way to such diseases by appling AST Chiro KI to the patients' affected parts, i. e., the kidney and the heart under the internal clinical treatments. As for the chronic renal failure, distinct effect was shown on disappearance of dropsical swelling and fatigue as well as decreasing cerum creatinine number of serious patients which is generally quite difficult to decrease even by the best clinical treatment. In the case of angina pectoris, the AST Chiro method was extremely effective on suppressing the fit. The ST drop in the electrocardiogram that is a characteristic to angina pectoris, decreased slightly but did not disappear completely in the course of the treatment. The continuous treatment of both AST Chiro KI and internal clinical treatment methods would be required to complete recovery from the angina pectoris.

A dozen of Qi-Gong masters were examined by a thermographic method. From the results, we found two types in Qi-Gong masters were existed; one type was themalincrease in their faces and hands, and the rest was a thermal shrink. Also in both cases, thermal synchronized phenomena were observed between Qi-sender and Qi-receiver. From the thermographic data, the temperature responses were analized. After starting Qi, thermal increase came out in acupuncture spots at first and after a while, the areas of the spots spreaded. Therfore, it was realized that the acupuncture spots were the most effective for transmitting Qi to the other persons using far-infrared communication. At a thermal increasing case, an area surround with same temperature was increasing slowly while the area was decreasing rapidly at the thermal decreasing case. Also in the case of heating-up, a rapid increment in their heart rate was observed after starting Qi. Therfore, we concluded that Qi-Gong masters could control their autonomic nerves, especially sympathetic nerves by themselves.

An outline of our collaborative research to investigate the existence of external Qi is described. Qi transmission from Chinese Qi-gong masters to healthy Japanese volunteers (abult males) was investigated by simultaneous polygraph measurements (electroencephalograms, peripheral blood flow rate, meridian function, and electromagnetic emission). biochmical blood tests, and psychological tests double-blind test conditions, These were used to distinguish between the effects due to Qi-gong on the volunteers and those due to self hypnotic suggestion by the volunteers. The results showed synchronization between the transmitters and receivers in their EEGs and AMIs, a remarkable increase in the electromagnetic emission from the receiver, and an increase in the number of white blood corpuscles of the transmitter. These results indicate the existence of external Qi. On the other hand, psychological tests showed that the Qi-gong masters had subconscious desires to influence other people and that their psychology had a strong affinity with the affect-drive impulse. These findigs typified the psychological characteristics of the Qi-gong masters.

Electroencephalograms (EEGs) of three Chinese Qi-gong masters and three healthy and sound Japanese men as their receivers were measured simultaneously for each pair. Two of these pairs were examined under double-blind test conditions, by which the Qi-receivers, as well as all researchers, could not know the time when the Qi-gong masters emitted Qi. We have previously reported that the changes in the EEGs of Qi-gong practitioners while emitting Qi appeared as similar changes in the EEGs of their subjects. In this report no clear synchronized changes were found in the β waves. The a phase difference between the occipital and frontal regions (τm) of Qi-gong masters becomes significantly shorter during Qi-gong. Even under the double-blind test conditions, the τm of the receivers also became shorter during Qi-gong than that during the resting state. During quiet Qi-gong meditation by the practitioner, there was a small influence on his subject. The a peak-frequency of the three masters became faster during Qi-gong,and this was reflected in the receivers. The power value of the a waves tended to decrease during Qi-gong, as we have reported before. However, its changing rate was small. These results show that 'Qi' is not merely a so-called placebo, but something that can be transmitted trans-personally.

External-Qi measurements are very important for the study of Qi. We have already monitored external-Qi by measuring the electro-magnetic emissions from the body. Here, we have measured the frequency spectra of the emitted Qi by analyzing the signals from the transmitter. Special care has been taken in measuring these signals by using double blind protocols for both the transmitter and recever subjects. The results showed that Qi is quite different from the hypnotic suggestion effect that has been frequently misunderstood as playing a role in this phenomenon. It is clear that the electro-magnetic signals emitted from the Qi-transmitter's Qi-state that had been completely hidden under the double blind conditions

A series of double blind polygraphic measurements were performed in electric shield by a project team of from the Japanese Society for Mind-Body Science on Qi transmitter-receiver pairs to verifay the external Qi transmission phenomena. This article reports the results from the peripheral blood flood flow rate and meridian function mesurements. The skin electric potential changes at CV 5 acupoints measured by a vibrating capacitance electrometarare also reported. The results on the mean blood flow rate, and Fourie spectrum of the blood flow rate clearly show synchronous changes between the transmitter-receiver pairs under conditions of Qi transmission. The meridian fun ctions also show distinguishable synchronous changes inspite of the electric shield installed between the transmitter and the receiver. On the basis of the present double blind experiments, it is concluded that external Qi-gong performance is quite different from hypnosis in which suggestion and leading play dominant roles. It is also concluded that electric fields play no role in external Qi transmission.

Quantitative analyses of blood composition were performed as part of a scheme for measuring of Qi-gong. This scheme included simultaneous polygraph measurements and psychological tests. The subjects used in the study were a Qi-gong master (a 32-year-old Chinese) and a receiver (a 32-year-old Japanese). The blood of both subjects were analyzed before and after Qi-transmissions. The results showed a remarkable increase in the white blood cell count for the Qi-gong master, while there was no statistically significant change observed for the receiver.

The aim of our study is to investigate the personality dynamics of Chinese Qi-gong masters. To eliminate linguistic obstacles, we gave all three Chinese Qi-gong masters the projective techniques. They underwent a bettery of tests, namely the Szondi test and the Luscher Colour test. The results of the Szondi test suggested that their psychology had a strong affinity with the affect-drive impulse. Especially, the finding of an affinity for the P-vector is the same as that of Yamashita's study (1975), which used the esoteric Japanese Buddhist Szondi test. This drive may imply that we can see the mobility of the P-vector sphere in persons with ascetic self-discipline. The results of the Luscher Colour test suggested that two of the Qi-gong masters had a subconscious wish to influence people. We can not confirm whether this results from effect of the experimental conditions on their personality trait, but we think this finding is valuable in connection with the Chinese Qi-gong master's transmissio of Qi to the receicver, Further evaluations are required to explicitly define the personality dynamics of Chinese Qi-gong masters.

This paper re-examines the concept of health from the point of view that "health" is not merely a phenomenon of an individual alone, but is also a transpersonal matter. As the result, it is observed that transpersonal health is "a good process" which proceeds throughout all levels, including subatomic particles, atoms, molecules, cells, organs, individuals, interpersonal relationships, groups, societies, cultures, artificial creations, nature including both living and inanimate things, and outer space. Furthermore this process proceeds transcending even physical distances and time; past, present and future.
