Emanuel Swedenborg was a scientist, philosopher, and theologian in the 18th century. In the latter part of his life, he had extraordinary psychic experiences. He entered the supernatural world and left enormous volumes recording his experiences. He is famous for his psychic experiences in the western world. But in Japan his experiences with the supernatural are not widely known. Recently, as research on Near-Death Experience (NDE) has been developed, Sweden-borg's experiences and thought concerning life after death and the after-death world have received much scientific attention. Especially Dr. R. A. Moody Jr. and Dr. K. Ring, who are authorities in NDE research, have been interested in his ideas. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the importance of Swedenborg's thoughts about death. My conclusions are as follows: 1) Swedenborg had a special psychic nature, as the philosopher Kant and psychologist C. G. Jung have pointed out. 2) Swedenborg had a premonition of NDE, as it were, in his early dreams as recorded in Journal of Dreams. 3) Swedenborg recorded in detail his NDE in Spiritual Diary. 4) In Swedenborg's religious works we can find many psychic experiences which are common with modern NDEs. 5) Swedenborg defined the death of the human body as the moment when the heart's movement stops completely.

How has Tibetan Buddhism understood death? Through an analysis of "The Tibetan Book of the Dead" I will clarify Tibetan Buddhism's essential attitude toward death, and how it relates to us. Tibetan Buddhism believes each of us possesses a cosmologically existing invisible body which helps us meet death, which Tibetan Buddhism considers to be a climax to life. What we ought to learn from this point of view is a way of meeting our own death. The human body will physiologically prepare us for innate death, no matter how our consciousness may perceive it.

We took physiological measurements of a Chinese woman (28 years old) who could read characters and drawing inside a sealed envelop under special conditions. Generally this is said to be clairvoyance. Also, we measured a Chinese boy (14 years old) who had almost the same ability, but a little bit weaker. The physiological measurements checked were as follows: EEC, ECG, blood pressure, galvanic skin responce, respiration and temperature by thermograph. After starting the clairvoyance, the Chinese woman's heart beat initially went down but rose several times abruptly in this period. Also, her blood pressure rose at the same time. When her heart beat went up, her EEG topography showed that activity of her EEG was low in the beta region. On the contrary, when her heart beat fell, the right side of her brain worked instantaneously. Of course, beta wave was found in the sight field of her right brain. So, the relation between her heart rate and EEG topography, as well as respiration is discussed in this paper. From these experimental results, we understand that her respiration controls her brain activity and her autonomic nerve system, and in some case her parasympathetic nervous system. Also, from thermography experiments, the temperature went up on the right side of her forehead and the boy. This means that much blood goes to the right side of the head of both people. Therefore, it must be concluded that the activity of the right side of the brain is higher than the left.

Electroencephalograms (EEGs) during Japanese Zen-meditation (Zazen) and Chinese Qi-gong and also while training Japanese Archery on image were measured from one subject, who has been training Zen and archery for about 22 years and Qi-gong for about 10 years. The author, Kawano, has previously reported the differences of EEGs among Qi-gong and two types of Zazen, Soto and Rinzai. Those subjects had been different for each, therefore, the results could have been caused by the personal difference. However, the present data by one trainee gave almost similar results. The indicator of concentration, τm (alpha phase difference between O_1 and Fp_1, became smaller during Qi-gong and the concentrating type of meditation, like Rinzai. Alpha wave frequency became slower by the very quiet and deep meditation. The change in alpha wave power was a little, though, some differences were found in the ratios of the right to the left hemisphere (O_2/O_1) for each task. Japanese archery was the task which needed the deepest concentration and full of images.

In comparison with Lianhua Mountain, we present a study of Qi in Irino Valley according to both traditional Taiji Diagram Theory and modern scientific method. A growing body of studies has demonstrated that the Qi in Lianhua Mountain, which is rich and in high quality, is attributable to the particular geographical features of Lianhua Mountain. That is, the fault zone underlying Lianhua Mountain exerts the Qi with special effects. In analogous to Lianhua Mountain on the China continent, the similar geographical character with a faulty underlying Irino Valley is also expected to play an important role responsible for a special existence of Qi. An attempt to explain functions of the fault is as followings based on Taiji Diagram Theory. (1) As known in traditional Taiji Diagram Theory, there are the opposing cosmic forces, i. e., Yang and Yin. The unity of opposites of Yang and Yin gives rise to the Taiji Diagram with the famous circle surrounding two semi-circles, linked in an S-shape. According to this cosmology, the two kinds of earth divided by a fault zone are recognizable as a Yang-Yin dualism which constructs a Taiji Diagram called Space Taiji Diagram by means of the interactions between the two earth. The fault zone is as S-shape in the Space Taiji Diagram. (2) Taiji Diagram Theory emphasizes the core of the S-shape, where Qi is consisted of all possible Yang-Yin complexen which are equally and symmetrically distributed. Additionally within the S-shape, a great amount of energy is produced due to the neutralization of Yang and Yin. Therefore, the fault or an S-shape in Space Taiji Diagram is filled with the Qi having energetic living resources according to Taiji Diagram Theory. The predictions on Qi in fault by the formalizaton of Space Taiji Diagram are verified by the experiments carried out in Lianhua Mountain, and partly varified in Irino Valley by exceptional perception of Qigong masters. Furthermore, we detect the Qi by a method of measuring changes in electric conductivity of water and conclude that the Qi in Irino Valley contains balanced energetic elementary ingredients, which is in compliance with the Taiji Diagram Theory.

Numerous examples of oral tales and other forms of ancient literature from various countries have referred to the existence of "Ajfia Chakra", a third eye, suggesting that human beings once had the power of "clairvoyance" the ability to see letters and objects without the use of eyesight. In the 20th century, such scientists as Tomokichi Fukuirai of Japan, J. B. Rhine of the United States, and Chen Shouliang of China conducted serious research into this area. While their studies affirmed the existence of this phenomenon, due to difficulties in repeatability and the possibility of unfair manipulation, these studies continue to be a subject of debate. Some other studies have suggested that clairvoyance, where subjects can perceive letters or objects written on paper that is folded or rolled up and placed in thier hand or ear, does not exist. We have sought to prove that this type of clairvoyance does indeed exist through the results of two test subjects, T. T. and Z. W. In 35 trials, T. T. was correct 97.1% of the time. Subject Z. W. participated in only three double-blind tests, but was able to correctly answer all three times. The probability of correct answers by chance is extremely low (3.7x10^<-8>). We hope that these test results will serve as a first step in putting to rest the continuing debate regarding the existence of clairvoyance.

The authors seek to establish the existence of extraordinary bio-perception that goes beyond the five senses, and the existence of extraordinary bio-emission, such as outer-Qi. We conduced experiments using color paper on the psychic person T. I., and produced very interesting results. In particular, the tests produced very significant data that offers proof for the existence of the former phenomenon, extraordinary bio-perception. The experiment comprised of three warm-up trials, (a), (b) and (c), followed by the actual tests, (A) through (F). The subject T. I. was blindfolded and asked to identify the color of pieces of paper, which were brought to close contact. Because of the high accuracy of his responses, in the actual experiments, we decided to place the paper in black plastic containers to eliminate any possibility of viewing. In experiments using red and yellow papers, recognition rate was a respectable 64% (64/100). In addition, in the case of yellow paper, when outer-Qi was applied, recognition improved to 72% (72/100). Furthermore, it appeared that in cases where the same color paper was used, the subject was able to detect the presence, or non-presense, of outer-Qi as well as the difference between the front side and back side of the paper. Based on these results, we believe there to be a strong suggestion of the existence of an unknown information transmission phenomena for color.

The middle region of the breast and the middle region of the forehead of a subject were irradiated by artificial external qi emitted from a qi-generator made of a 80kHz quartz resonance system proposed previously by the author, where this artificial external qi was named EQR (emission from quartz resonance). Changes in human body impedance were investigated before, during and after the irradiation by the EQR. It was found that BP (before polarization) currents show statistically significant increases (p<0.05) which suggest increases in body fluids flows, while magnetic irradiations as a control experiment do not show statistically significant increases in the BP currents, where each BP current means the peak current which appears immediately after a square wave impulse of voltage is applied to the human body.

The measurement of "Long Distance Qi" from Tokyo to Beijing city given by Qi-gong master LIAN YINQUAN using the method of measuring water's electric conductivity is reported for the first time in this paper. It is demonstrated that amount and characters of "Qi" received in Beijing city is dependent on the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and the electric conductivity (S) of the distilled water. The lower is the water's ORP. The more is the "Qi" received in water. Furthermore, Beijing city running water or underground water, the electric conductivity of which is higher than 1000 μs. cm^<-1>, and it is difficult to receive the "Qi".
