For the rationalization of thinning operation, the investigation was conducted on the efficiency and the working posture in singling work of turnip with traditional hand work. The efficiency was considerably constant during initial 22min., but then it was lowered and reached about 1hr. after to the secondary constant phase, in which the efficiency was about 50% of the initial one. The worker could only maintain the standard posture of this work during initial 30min. and then began to change his posture frequently. It was supposed from these facts that the efficiency lowering was resulted from workers suffering came from bad working posture. For the improvement of traditional singling work, it wes believed to be essential to develope the working method, in which worker could take comfor able working posture.
