Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) was introduced by Gauderer, et al. in 1980, and has been used for feeding patients with eating disturbances. Oral cancer treatments often cause swallowing problems, and gastric tube insertion has commonly been used in such cases. However, several disadvantages such as necessity of frequent tube exchange and gastroesophageal ref lux have been reported. Intravenous high calory infusion (IVH ) is also a useful strategy in these cases, but infection sometimes occurs.
We report our experience of PEG for patients with swallowing disturbances after oral cancer surgery. We recommend PEG as a useful method to provide sufficient nutrition to these patients.

Epulis is a general term for inflammatory hyperplasia of the gingiva. It is a common disease in the oral region. We reported a case of large epulis on the right premolar to molar gingiva of the mandible in a 78-year-old female. She complained of tumor formation on the right molar gingiva of the mandible, which was elastic hard, pedunculate, and had a smooth surface with multiple small ulcers.
Radiographically, small radiopaque areas were scattered in the mass, suggesting that the tumor had many calcified areas. Tissue biopsy revealed an inflammatory granulation tissue containing calcified bodies. After simple extirpation of the epulis, alveolar f ossa was confirmed under the tumor.
Histopathologically, the specimen, which was 61×48×40 mm in size and 50 g in weight, showed fibrous connective tissue including proliferation of collagen fiber and scattered lamellar bones surrounded by osteoblasts.
We could identify 20 previous reports of large epulides over the past 10 years, and our case proved to be of medium size among them. In this paper we reviewed patient's age, sex, position, size, and treatment of the previously reported cases.

A case of mixed tumor of the skin (chondroid syringoma) occurring in the upper lip of a 68-year-old man is reported. The lesion was a painless mass measuring 10×10×7 mm in the left side of the upper lip. Ultrasound examination revealed a well-circumscribed nodule in the dermis. With a tentative diagnosis of benign skin tumor, the lesion was excised with a normal tissue margin and the defect was closed while taking care to ensure the symmetrical form of the upper lip under local anesthesia.
Histological examinations of the surgical material showed a proliferation of branching tubular and ductal structures, which were lined by two layers of epithelial cells, and chondroid or myxoid stroma. A pathological diagnosis was so-called mixed tumor of the skin (chondroid syringoma) .
As of 13 months after surgery, there is neither sign of recurrence nor esthetic or functional disturbance, and the patient is satisfied with the outcome of the operation.
