Twelve taxa of Synuraceae; seven species of Mallomonas, one species and one variety of Synura, one species and one unidentified species of Paraphysomonas, and one species of Spinifermonas were found about 200 meters off Yamada Harbor in the southern basin of Lake Biwa in January, 1980. Eleven taxa excluding Mallomonas fastigata were newly found in Lake Biwa.
