The possible availability of rectifying device for wind tunnel and fluid machinery using octahedral blocks is investigated. The device consists of octahedral blocks and support struts with varying size. Experiments are conducted for airflow in a wind tunnel, with the device installed within. Downstream velocity profile is measured by means of Pitot tube and hot-wire anemometer. Experiments results show that the velocity profiles in the downstream of the rectifiers are better in uniformity compared with the one with wire-mesh (8mesh). Pressure loss coefficient of the rectifier using octahedral blocks is about 40 % lower than the one with wire-mesh. From these results, the rectifying device using octahedral blocks is useful for the wind tunnel that needs low pressure drop characteristics.
