Performance data are presented for a continuous counter current extraction column, compartmented by horizontal plates and agitated by paddles installed in an eccentric common shaft. The characteristics of this mixer column are as follows:
(1) The paths of solvent and water phases are separated each other and the dispersion and coalescence are repeated automatically so that the column should be equivalent to a series of batches operating counter currently.
(2) The hold up of solvent can be regulated at nill having nothing to do with the water to solvent flow ratios and can safely be raised up to 40% in a proper design.
We gained a Japanese patent 182, 796 (December 6, 1949) with this mixer column.
