The method of Calculating effectiveness factor of the porous catalyst, which factor depends upon the diffusibility of reactants or products insid catalyst as well as on the pure chemical reaction, had formerly been developed to the first order reaction or to a few other cases. Whereupon the authors have tried and succeeded in extending its application to the cases in general in which chemical reaction rates are given and equations are presented as a function of constitution. As an example, the calculation method for ammonia synthesis is illustrated.

Pseudoplastic fluids such as cellulose ester, boiled starch and solution of high polymer are important materials in chemical industry. Neverthless, few researches have been reported from the stand point of chemical engineering and as a fundamental research, measuring the pressure drop and computing average velocity of boiled starch flowing in 1/2" gas pipe, the authors calculated the velocity distribution by Krieger's method. The results of the experiments are shown in Fig. 6, 7 and 8.
From the results, the authors have ascertained that the Waele-Ostwald's equation

is approximately satisfactory, and tbat the authors may define η_psu as "pseudoplastic viscosity, " which has the dimension indicated by the equation (2),
