In this study, the resin volume filling ratio at the joint between an aluminum plate with an uneven structure and a resin material was quantitatively evaluated using X-ray micro CT and3D image analysis. It was confirmed that, as the holding pressure was increased, the volume filling ratio of the resin material in the internal space was increased, leading to greater joining strength and reduced variation in the joining strength. This is because the fracture mode of the joint changes from peeling of the joining interface to destruction of the resin material due to increased filling ratio of the inner space. From the above, it was clarified that the resin volume filling ratio at the joint is the contributing factor for the shear joining strength in resin-metal joining injection molding.
