At about 200°C, tartaric acid alkali salts are completely decomposed in phosphoric acid and potassium iodate mixed solution, and they react on the oxidant (KIO₃) quantitatively.
From the amount of oxidant (KIO₃) that present in the phosphoric acid after tartaric acid alkali salts are all decomposed by the above reaction, the tartaric acid alkali salts in cyanide copper bath can be determined.

This report deals with study of detergency of nonionic surfactant to asphaltic soil with non-polar solvent to which nonionic surfactant is added to determine detergency of surfactant in organic solvents.
Among the agents tested markedly effective were those of alkylamine-ethylene oxide condensates, particularly those in which gram moles of ethylene oxide were 4 moles or less.
In addition, n-alkylmercaptane-4 moles ethylene oxide condensates indicated fairly good results; while higher alcohol and alkylphenol-ethylene oxide condensates did not yield so good effects.
It was also found that anionic surfactants were much inferior to those described above.

The reaction of Al upon hydrochloric acid solution (1.5-4N) was investigated based upon the reaction velocity theory. The result is as follows:
1. Al reacts on and dissolves in hydrochloric acid solution according to the following chemical equation:
Al+3HCl=AlCl₃+3/2H₂
2. The dissolving reaction of Al in hydrochloric acid solution consists of the stages of primary and secondary dissolution. The former can be shortened or eliminated by a suitable pretreatment, and the latter becomes the main-part of the reaction.
3. In 1.5-4N hydrochloric acid solution the first order reaction of Al will take place, under which the following reaction velocity equation will hold:
d(Al)/dt∞dV/dt=3.11×102[HCl]⋅S⋅e-8200/1.986T(V∞-V)(see equation 5, page 357).
From this equation, we can determine the life of Al in hydrochloric acid.
4. The activation energy is 8200cal/mol; from this figure the reaction is regarded as a diffusion reaction.

On the electro-polished surface of aluminum, the thin oxide film covers. This film will hinder the growth of oxide film in sulfuric acid. It can be removed by immersing in the hot caustic soda solution or mixed solution of phosphoric acid and chromic acid. But, by these methods, the electro-polished surface is ocassionally clouded.
The ununiformity of the thickness of oxide film causes the difference of reflecting power. In this report, it was recognized by electron microscopic observation that the warm bath process of sulfamic acid is very effective to remove the oxide film.

It is believed that the plating speed of alkaline electroless nickel plating solution is very low and not used practically. Various alkaline electroless nickel plating solutions were examined theoritically and experimentally and the plating speed in alkaline (pH 9.0) plating solution composed of 0.1M-nickel chloride, 0.2M-sodium citrate, 0.1M-borax and 0.1M-sodium hypophosphite, was found to be as high as that of the acid (pH 4.5) plating solution used practically, which shows that such alkaline plating solution is also promising.
