In order to extract and separate strontium which coexist as salts in sea water, writers made an investigation of soil of the water condensing pound of sun drying salt fiald. We made research work to find out the method of manufacturing strontium carbonate and strontium nitrate of high purity from the basic material by extracting and separating strontium sulphate.

We attempted electrolysis by ion exchange membrane to get NaoH and Cl₂ from sea water. Cation exchange membranes carries cation and anion one carries anion. We can get NaOH with out CI on SO₄"by this property. We measured current efficiency for NaOH and Cl₂ as follows.
1) 2- Compartment method
2) Quick silver method
3) Quiek silver method with saturated salt salution.
4) 3- Conpartment method by use of anion and cation exchange membrane.

By means of measurement of sedimentary sepecific volume in mother Liquid of basic magnesium carbonate prepared under different conditions, the relation between the conditions of its formation from normal salt and the sedimentary specific volume of the products was reriewed. The specific volume is influenced chiefly by the concentration of HCO₃' in mother liquid and it is thought that the coagulation of the products will be effctted by the concentration of HCO'₃'. The influencre of crystal size to specific volume is recognized above it.

Continuing the last report [this Journal, VoL.7, No.5, p.215 (1953)]. bittern, magnesium chloride and potasium chloride solution were electrolysed under the various conditions; kind of electrodes, add acid, alkali or compound, effect of electrolytic time. Hypochloride and chlorate concentration, the amount and composition of precipitates were measured.
