One of the characteristics of Gafchromic EBT3 (EBT3) is to handle under ambient room. However, ambient room lights are currently being replaced by light emitting diodes (LED). This study elucidates the light-frequency properties of a white LED.
For our analysis, 60- and 40-W equivalent white LEDs and an EBT3 were used. The LEDs, kept at a distance of 5 cm from the spectrometer, was irradiated for 0, 1, 2, and 3 h. Similarly, blue and yellow lights were irradiated for 0, 30, 60, and 90 min under the same conditions. The spectra and illuminance were measured, and the mean pixel values and the standard deviations were obtained. Friedman rank sum test, Bonferroni test and Spearman's rank correlation were performed.
The illuminances of white, blue, and yellow lights were 45,400, 11,400, and 25,100 lx, respectively. The results showed statistical significance (p ‹ 0.05). However, there was no correlation between the irradiation duration and pixel values for yellow light.
The influence of the white LED on the EBT3 was estimated. White and blue light had a significant affect on the EBT3. However, yellow light had no effect on the EBT3 due to the presence of yellow dye in the active layer.
