This year JACTFL celebrated 10th anniversary. In the past ten years, JACTFL has been tirelessly advocating the importance of world languages education for all Japanese children and students. JACTFL aims at developing and implementing a world languages education policy that requires all Japanese students to study at least one world language of their choice other than English. The author argues that in order to achieve this goal, first we have to increase the number of world languages students in schools and for this purpose we have to offer attractive world languages education that inspires young people to study world languages. This paper suggests that we should offer world languages instruction that develops global citizenship and demonstrates sample classroom activities.
