The theme of research is a proposal of a study method for coaching of embodied skills in sports fishing. Because the actual process itself is the target of analysis in a research about coaching of embodied skills, the report will be on the actual process that took place in 2010-2011.
The present paper discusses how to encourage embodied perception of landscape, and advocates that real-time synaesthetic sonification is effective for promoting user's landscape comprehension. Embodied perception is known as one of the tacit knowledge, therefore exploring it is difficult. To solve this problem, in this paper we focused on the feature of auditory sense. For example, people can recognize the information automatically when they are hearing sound. Moreover, auditory information can provide us a minuter change than visual information. We constructed two systems named "ChariMusic" and "ChariMelody" that synthesis the music from scenery information based on image processing. A practical experiment in cycling shows that sonification makes participants deepen the spatial experience.
Town has been one of the interesting targets in the community of field research. Recently, not only researchers but also ordinary people are interested in towns and communities. Especially, town- walking is one of the active interests. In an enjoyable experience of walking in a town, if he or she makes meta-cognitive efforts, everybody is able to learn the ability to see its various aspects and associate them with how people live there and how communities are being formed there. Through a case-study of walking around two areas in Tokyo, we have designed a media called "Machi-mi-chou" and a system of using it as a methodology for experiencing a town, story-telling its experience and luring others to learning from experiences of town-walking.
