The National Institute of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition (NIBIOHN) publishes the National Health and Nutrition Survey in order to offer basic data for the comprehensive promotion of the health of the Japanese people in accordance with the Health Promotion Law. The latest version of the survey was published in November of 2019, and is listed here as an appendix to the National Health and Nutrition Survey Food Groups. In this appendix, the food groups of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey are listed. The food items in Japan are classified into major categories such as cereals and pulses, medium categories such as rice and rice products, and minor categories such as nuts and seeds, and the names of the food items are listed. This data is available to the public as a PDF file, but if it is released as general-purpose open data using the appropriate descriptor, it is expected to create new value by integrating with various open data already available. In this presentation, we will take a bird's eye view of these food groups data and discuss how to promote open data.
