In the assembly that terminals such as relays and switches are press-fit, it is important to dimensional stability and a holding force after assembly of the terminal. However, due to plastic deformation at press-fit, the position of the terminal fluctuates in the press fit assembly of the terminal. Therefore, there are concern about degradation of product quality such as operating characteristics and contact reliability of contact point. In this study, concerning the press-fitting assembly of contact terminal for relay, our aim is to satisfy contradictory characteristic value which is the position and the holding force of terminal. Based on the results of parametric design for real sample, we tried to correct the level of significant factors affecting holding force, discussed those results.

Recall issue of automobiles is one of the biggest topics in the world today. We discuss an essential question; whether we can make recall-free production or not. It was found out that some pieces of the information of properties of products, whose information is much more than that of design drawings, are 'INVISIBLE'. This 'INVISIBLE' information causes recalls. The key to realize recall-free production is to control the 'INVISIBLE information.

In recent years, the ratio of LCC (Low Cost Countries) production is increasing more and more in manufacturing industry. In LCC production, automated machine is few and operator have bigger role to play than advanced country. However, the ability difference between operators is large. To achieve high productivity and quality, the role allotment between production machine and operator is very important in this condition. And, the production machine should be equipment matched to LCC manufacturing. At this time, I introduce test machine which is very important equipment to achieve high quality by an example.

Concerning with a green logistics optimization problem under reliability consideration, we have engaged in multi-objective analysis by developing an extended method of hybrid tabu search. It is a hierarchical method composed of tabu search and graph algorithms for solving the minimum cost flow problem. Through numerical experiments, we have verified the effectiveness of the proposed procedure and claimed the significance of the multi-objective anarysis for green logistics network design.

Diversifying the customers' needs, new manufacturing systems and new manufacturing management methods are proposed. But they are not introduced into the factories in real. In this paper we discuss the reasons that the newly proposed systems and methods are not used in the factories. And we discuss that "Design Support System for Manufacturing Systems (DSSMS) " is necessary for the introduction of the new systems and methods. On this report we discuss the functions that the Design Support System for Manufacturing Systems has to have. And we discuss the functional similarity and difference of the support system between the new design of manufacturing systems and the improvement design.

This study proposes an inference system based on the hierarchization of meta knowledge to control the inference process in solving real-time control problems when urgent plan corrections are needed after the production plan is scheduled. The hierarchy according to the meta level of knowledge is achieved as a multiagent system that provides knowledge at different respective meta levels to multiple agents. The agent located in the higher level hierarchy controls the inference process of the subordinate agents, and the subordinate agents infers solution with the knowledge controlled by the higher level hierarchy.
