This is a report on the test of a polyester aerial photographic film developed by Fuji Photo-Film Company.
To investigate the physical and photographic characteristics following 3 series of tests were performed.
1) As a practical test, 324 photographs were taken by 4 aerial surveying companies, and no trouble was found as to the manipulation of aerial cameras and the photographic processing. The negatives proved better qualities than the triacetate aerial photographic film produced by the company.
2) For the investigation of the irregular shrinkage of the film, relative orientation of 35 stereo-models were carried out with 3 first order instruments and a precise comparator.
From the residual error of each relative orientation the closing error and the running mean were calculated, and it was found that the geometrical precision of the new film is almost equivalent to that of the tri-acetate film.
3) The photographic sensitometry and the deformation measurement were carried out at the laboratory of Fuji Photo-Film Company. For the deformation measurement the pin-gauge method and the comparison to the mesh-plate were applied it was proved that the new film has a very good physical quality.
