1. On case of “Shay rat” ulcer was first found 9 hours after the pylorusligation, and the ulceration came to the top 12-15 hours after, and showed 90% 18 hours after. The increase in mEq·of HC1 was remarkable, paralleling the rate of pepcin 7 hours after the pylorus ligation in spite of the ulceration.
2. I found the fact that this ulcer recovered naturally 8 or 9 days after I took off the string of pylorus.
3. When I cleared away the contents of the stomack 6 hours after the pylorus ligation, the rate of the ulceration remarkably fell down 18 hours after, but that of the acid did not.
4. On case of instilling 24% almi-gel 5c, c, the ulcer did not come out at all, and the free acid was not found. And by 12% almi-gel 5cc, I found the very scarce ulceration and the thin acid, and by 8% Methaphyllin, comparatively scarce ulceration and the thin acid. On the other hand. 1) distilled water 5cc 2) 4% Methaphyllin 5 cc, 3) Various kinds of chlorophyllin 4) 4% bismuth subnitrate 5cc 5) various dencity of sodium bicarbonate, did not act any useful play in controlling the ulceration and getting down the thickness of the acid. Moreouer, 6) ^N₁₀HCl 5cc made the ulceration few on the contrary.
5. On case of “vagotomy shay rat”, I foumd no acid and not a single ulcer, and found the fact that the ulcer was not seen at all in spite of promotion of the sekretion of the acid.
6. Howeuer, by the pylorus ligation, and the injection of “Banthein” at the same time, the ulceration was remarkably scarce, but the promotion of the acid sekretion was still seen.
And the injection of cortisone or A. C. T. H. to that rats resulted in a little richer ulceration and acid.
7. When I injected chlorpromazine to the shay rat, the ulceration was scarce and the acid was still rich. And by the frequent injection of chlorpromazine, the ulceration came more scarce, but the acid stayed as rich as ever.
8. On case of adrenalectomized rat, I found the tendency that the ulceration fell doun, but could not found any unique change of the acid.
Injecting cortisone to that rats, the chance of ulceration remarkably increased with the sekretion of the acid promoting at the same time.
9. On case of pregnant shay rat, I found the ulcer in all of them.

Direct smears were made from resected stomachs, fixed in ether-alcohl and stained by Wright's method.
The average areas of nuclei and nucleoli were respectively 148μ²and 11.2μ²in adenocarcinomas, 148μ²and 11.8μ²in scirrhous carcinomas, 118μ²and 8.7μ²in medullary carcinomas, 118μ²and 6.4μ²in gastric ulcers.
The cells, which had nuclei larger than 300μ²or nucleoli larger than 40μ², were generally malignant.
But some of malignant characteristics were also seen both in cases of gastric ulcer and gastric polyp. For instance increased nuclearcytoplasmic ratio, hyperchromasia, thickening of the nuclear membrane and deep staining of the cytoplasm were also seen in cases of gastric ulcer. However, enlarged nucleolus, typical mitosis and cytoplasmic inclusion were rarely observed in cases of gastric ulcer. Enlarged nucleus, giant nucleus, aberrant chromatin pattern, irregular outline of the nucleus, multinucleation, engulfment of one cell by another and vacuolation were never seen in gastric ulcer. So we must always keep this fact in mind in the cytodiagnosis of gastric cancer.
Of the 35 cases of histologically proved cancer, 31 were correctly diagnosed by this smear method and in the remaining four the examination proved negative. In three of these negative cases, the cancer surf ace was exposed only slightly or not at all.
Of the eight cases of benign gastric ulcer, seven were correctly diagnosed and one was suspicious.
Of the four cases of benign gastric polyp, two were correctly diagnosed but other two were false positive.
