During the years from 1977 to 1981 four specimens of Bougainvillia bitentaculata UCHIDA, 1925 were collected at Oshoro, Hokkaido, northern Japan. An immature specimen, 0.75 mm in umbrellar width and 0.63 mm in umbrellar height and with three marginal tentacles and four unbranched oral tentacles, was reared in laboratory for 83 days, fed with Artemia-nauplii, and the metamorphosis and the nematocyst equipment were examined. This specimen grew up into a male mature medusa with a peduncle, eight marginal tentacles, and four oral tentacles branched twice on the 11th day after rearing, when it was 1.44 mm in diameter and 1.25 mm in height. Such morphology is the characteristic of the present species, however a further growth appeared successively, becoming to have 19 marginal tentacles and four oral tentacles branched four or five times, and the size attaining 2.5 mm in diameter and 2.1 mm in height. The tip of manubrium and the tentacular bulb were black in color, but no ocellus was present. Nematocysts of desmoneme and microbasic eurytele were found in the mature medusa. The present species closely resembles Bougainvillia aurantiaca BOUILLON, 1980 and B. muscoides (M. SARS, 1846) and their taxonomic relationship is discussed.

The larval morphology of Laomedia, astacina DE HAAN, a burrowing mud shrimp endemic to Japan, is described and illustrated for five zoeal stages obtained by laboratory rearing. The zoeas are compared with available descriptions of larvae from other species within the Laomediidae. The development of thoracic appendages is carefully traced, especially of branchial system.

Only the species of anopsobiine centipede known from Japan is Anopsobius japonicus MURAKAMI, 1967. It was moved to Anopsobiella by ZALESSKAJA in 1975. In this paper, the new genus Shokokuobius is erected for the animal as the result of re-examination of recently obtained materials from new localities.

During the period from 1965 to 1981, the study was undertaken to examine the endoparasite fauna of cave bats, Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, R. cornutus and Miniopterus schreibersii living in limestone caves and mines in the northern and middle parts of Mie Prefecture. R. cornutus, collected in Daitsu-doko in the north and Shurei-no-mizu-ana in the middle, was infected with the cestode, Vampirolepis isensis, the nematode, Strongylacantha rhinolophi and the trematode, Mesothatrium japonicum, peculiar to R. cornutus throughout Japan. R. ferrumequinum in Shurei-no-mizu-ana was infected with V. isensis, but the bat in the other caves was infected with the cestode, Hymenolepis rashomonensis peculiar to R. ferrumequinum throughout Japan and many minute larval cestodes belonging to the genus Hymenolepis or Insectivorolepis, which are invisible to the naked eye, the nematode, Strongylacantha pretoriensis, the trematode, Prosthodendrium longiforme, Pr. arvouterus, Pr. yamizensis, Pr. chilostomum, Pr. postacetabulum, Pr. sp. Acanthatrium japonicum, A. isostomum, A. ovatum, A. sp., Mesothatrium japonicum and Plagiorchis rhinolophi. Miniopterus schreibersii collected in Handa mine and Daitsu-Doko, was infected with the nematode, Molinostrongylus rhinolophi, the trematode, Mesothatrium japonicum and Pr. longiform. On the other hand, only M. schreibersii in the latter mine was infected by the cestode, V. hidaensis peculier to M. schreibersii throughout Japan.
