Two new trypanosomes, Trypanosoma yongi and Trypanosoma terbesar are detected in the blood of a giant toad, Bufo asper, from Peninsular Malaysia. The former species has a developed undulating membrane with 6 to 9 folds. The body length is 40.8-87.5 micrometers. The distance from the kinetoplast to the posterior edge of the round nucleus is 6.1-12.5 micrometers. The cytoplasm of the anterior part of the body along the well developed undulating membrane is often lightly stained with Giemsa. The latter species belongs to the so-called rotatorium-group having a fusiform nucleus, but the body size is very large compared with other species of the group, measuring 41.4-61.4 micrometers in length and 14.3-31.4 micrometers in width.

Platydemus manokwari DE BEAUCHAMP, 1962 (Turbellaria, Tricladida, Terricola) is redescribed in detail based upon materials from Guam and Bugsuk Island, the Philippines. The animals measure up 50 to 80mm or more in length and 4 to 8mm in width and black in color with a narrow middorsal longitudinal stripe on the dorsal surface. This species is known as a predator of giant African snails. Geographical distribution and ecology of this land planarian species are also discussed.

A new freshwater crab of the genus Geosesarma is described from Mindanao Island, the Philippines, under the name of G. protos. The new species belongs to the same group of species as G. malayanum NG et LIM, 1987, in possessing the stout first male pleopod and the third maxilliped exopod with only a vestigial or no flagellum. It differs from the two known Philippine species, G. vicentense (RATHBUN) and G. rathbunae (SERENE), in many features of the shape, armature and sculpture of carapace.

An unrecorded libellulid species, Hylaeothemis clementia RIS was added to Thai odonate fauna based on a male specimen taken at Fang, N. Thailand. Another male specimen of the same species was taken from Poring, N. Borneo close to the original habitat of the same species, and their identity was confirmed.

Two new genera and species of the Japanese plant bugs, Castanopsides hasegawai and Macrolygus viridulus, are described and illustrated. The former is a brownish species, associated with Castanopsis spp. The latter is a large, greenish one, described on seven specimens. Both new genera belong to the tribe Mirini of the subfamily Mirinae.

A new hydroid species, Campanularia (Orthopyxis) compressima, (Thecata, Campanulariidae) is described. The material is based on a female colony attached onto a boulder just below the intertidal zone of Daikoku Island, Akkeshi, Hokkaido, northern Japan. The species resembles C. (O.) norvegiae BROCH, 1948 from the sea around Antarctica, but is distinguishable from the antarctic species in having a more strongly compressed gonotheca and in lacking a tubular neck in the gonotheca.

A new polyclad turbellarian, Notoplana rugulosa, from intertidal rocky shore of the Sanriku coast, northeastern Japan, is described. The new species resembles N. acticola (BOONE, 1929) from California and N. japonica KATO, 1937 from the Pacific coast of central Japan in some respects, but it is well distinguished from the former by having a large bulbous seminal vesicle with a larger prostatic vesicle in the male genital organ and a larger folded Lang's vesicle in the female, and from the latter by having no penis-sheath in the male.
