The flow mechanism for a semicircular canal is expressed in terms of a leakage flow equation for a torus-tube-valve system. Features of the engineering model were determined assuming the leakage flow between ampulla and cupula to be a positive feedback loop. Numerical simulations using presently available data on man's semicircular canals and a simplified valve model of the cupula showed the engineering model to well fit the experimental equations. The efficiency of leakage flow on viscous damping and natural frequency of the system was roughly estimated.
