Care workers are often subjected to heavy physical loads, and low back pains are frequently reported. Techniques for predicting the physical loads involved are important for improving working conditions. In this study, we have developed a computer simulation method to predict physical loads by generating body movements. In past studies, methods of optimal control based on direct dynamics have been employed. In this study, we have devised a novel prediction method based on inverse dynamics, which can be applied to various movements and does not involve high calculating costs. Lifting, pushing and pulling movements, which were basic to care giving, were simulated using this method. It was found that the predicted movements closely matched these of humans.
