The mechanical properties of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer(EPDM)-blended PP/hybridized talc-CaCO3 composite were studied. The hybridized CaC03 (1.4μm)-talc(3.2μm) particles were newly prepared in the presence of stearic acid by using high rotation speed mixer. The composites were prepared by using twin screw extruder. Talc, CaCO3, and EPDM particles were dispersed independently and homogeneously in PP matrix. Impact strength of PP/hybridized talc-CaCO3 composite was superior to PP/talc composite. The impact strength of PP/hybridized talc-CaCO3 composites was remarkably improved by blending, compared with one of PP/talc composites. EPDM-blended PP filled with hybridized filler composites was the excellent material for the balance of modulus and impact strength. The whitening region of the fractured face after Izot impact test was observed by microscope measurement, which is conceivably caused by micro-void at filler surface, PP craze EPDM particles and shear yielding deformation among filler particles. It is clear that the impact strength of composites increases with the volume increase of the whitening region.

Phenoxyresin (PX) known as a plastic resin with dimension consistency was esterificated with glycidyl acrylate (GA) and glycidyl methacrylate (GM). Thus the photosensitive polymers, PXGA with acryloyloxy group and PXGYI with methacryloyloxy group, were synthesized . PXGA is not investigated as a photopolymer until now, but PXGM is a commercial product. In this report PXGM was synthesized for the purpose of comparing with PXGA in the photosensitivity. The rates of reaction of PX with GA and GM were almost the same each other under the same synthesizing conditions. PXGA was synthesized in the presence of anti-thermal polymerization reagent, hydroquinone (HQ), though PXGM was done without HQ. PXGA was more photosensitive than PXGM according to grayscale method. The dynamic viscoelastic properties were measured about PX, PXGA, PXGA composite with some additives (PXGA') and PXGA' irradiated by UV lamp (PXGA"). The elasticity of PX was decreased with accepting the photosensitive group and receiving the additives.
