Macromitrium ousiense was newly found　from four additional localities in Hyogo Prefecture,　Japan. Observation based on matured sporophytes　revealed the presence of short and fragile peristome　teeth and dimorphic anisosporous spores of M. ousiense.　Possible synonymy of M. longipapillosum to M.　nipponicum was mentioned.
