[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to clarify the learning outcome of practical training at community general support centers or facilities for persons with disabilities such as community activity support centers (hereinafter referred to as “community care practical training”), which is implemented as nursing education in 2nd year, based on the student’s self-evaluation.

[Methods] An anonymous self-reported questionnaire survey was conducted by the collective method on the acquisition of 28 section learning objectives related to community care before and after the practical training for 84 students who participated in practical training. Date from 72 students who responded survey before and after the practical training were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and free descriptions analysis.

[Results] The students who received practical training at community general support centers got higher self-evaluations on all 28 learning objectives related to community care after the practical training than before it, and significant differences were found in all of the learning objectives. Among students who received practical training at community activity support centers, etc., significant differences were found in 23 learning objectives.

[Discussion] The results suggest that practical training in a community in the 2nd year is effective for students to acquire practical nursing skills related to community care.
