As the basis of health social support system, the information system has become more and more important as an integrated infrastructure, because the evaluation and management of the support must be done for maximum usage of limited source. First of all, the purpose of this study was to clarify the actual system of health social information services and policies, and also the factors related to the useful utilization of information interfaces. And measures toward effective and efficient health social information system based on useful technologies were also proposed. The subjects were 84 local government who expressed to have social information system related to health welfare card system. The content of interview was consisted information hardware system, information infrastructure, media type, and software included menu category and its purpose. The interfaces of information infrastructure was the valuable view point for evaluation. The hesitation due to critical interface such as user interface was one of the critical issues. The reason why the elderly hesitate to use the information services were their ignorance about its availability and utilization, and the complexity for getting the appropriate information. Implementation of the information system as the effective way to make everyone take care of their own health based on new card system, will likely promote health motivation and steer the self oriented useful information services. So we developed the concept of "Health Promotion Incentive Card" system as the effective way to make everyone take care of their own health. The main three objectives for the Health Promotion Incentive Card are as follows ; (1) Health motivation by health information indices ; (2) Health enlightenment by health information indices ; (3) Health policy transfiguration by health information indices. The Health Promotion Incentive card consists of the indicator for scoring their healthy actions and health indices. The illumination area is divided into five categories, which is combined with nourishment, exercise, rest, health management, and social life activities. There will be possibly every reason to expect that health motivation driving force and concrete actions will promoted. Further research must be done to evaluate the usefulness of the information comprehensively within total health social support.

Evaluation of Environmental Stimulation (EES) is the scale which has been developed in Japan since 1987 for identifying the risk of raring environment and support. The purpose of this study was to clarify the feature of the Evaluation of Environmental Stimulation, and to develop the adequate methods of health-social services for rearing environment. The subjects were all the 388 children of 18 month who came for the compulsory health check up. Caregivers were asked to answer the questionnaire version of EES, and after analysis, 85 children were selected for home visit version of EES because of low score of questionnaire version of EES. The results are as follows ; 1) Using the items which directory assessed the kinds and times of stimulation, the feature of the raring environment were evaluated by 8 regions, which are, (1) human stimulation, (2) response, (3) avoidance of restriction, (4) independence, (5) physical stimulation, (6) social stimulation, (7) safety environment, (8) social support. 2) The feature of the EES were clarify by the relation with the risk of development, risk of health, number of siblings, and stress of rearing. The subscales and some of the items were related significantly. 3) Using EES, the framework of the raring environment were easily assessed, and give the chance to health-social staffs to select the support and to evaluate the situation effectively. Further research must be done to develop more predictable scale of environmental stimuation.

Since 1991 we have made a research into biting behavior among nursery school toddlers. The reason we have made this research is that there was an urgent demand to have effective measures to prevent children from the biting behavior. A part of results that we obtained in this research was already announced just in another issue last year. In this paper we aim to analyze the immediate action of child care workers against biting children and especially to examine their acceptance. With the category of actions which has been established by examining 1181 cases, we have found, most of the actions are directive and it is very rare to accept the behavior of biting child. Then we have made a further inquiry to clear the necessary reason acceptance is so rare . But analysis has proved that there is no necessary reason to refer. Since there is no necessary reason, it is convinced, it is the directive action that stands in the way of acceptance. Child care workers who are confronted with the biting are apt to be strongly prepossessed with value system (right and evil) and loose their comprehensiveness. The more directive the worker is, the less acceptance. Direction is incompatible with acceptance. That seems to be the case of our results. Today day care needs for nursery school are going to be increasingly diversified. To meet these diversified demands,it is very important for child care workers to co-understand and accept the difficulty of child care with which today is parents are faced. In this meaning acceptance is also the key word for today's nursery school and child care workers.

The purpose of this study was to investigate methods for a comprehensive measurement of the degree of supply of welfare works for the aged, and to investigate the relation between the degree of supply of welfare for the aged and factors of social structure. The results showed, first, that the degree of supply of welfare for the aged in facilities and at home could be scaled unitarity by principal component analysis. Secondly, we were able to clarify by using multiple regression analysis that the degree of supply of welfare works for the aged was correlated with the ratio of households comprising only one aged person and the ratio of people employed in primary industries. The multiple correlation coefficient was 0.81. The results of this study suggest that the degree of supply of welfare works for the aged has led to the hypotheses of aging society and urbanization.

In order to obtain the fundamental data for the examination of the construction of the model of health and welfare services for the aged according to the characteristics of each municipality and for the examination of its evaluation method, the current status of health and welfare services for the aged by each municipality within Okayama Prefecture was analyzed in connection with the population, based on their values per hundred of population of 65 years and over. As a result of this analysis, it was observed that, in municipalities with a small population, health and welfare services at home where the preparation of facilities are not necessary were well provided; on the contrary, as to the services at home and those given in the facilities which have a close relation to the preparation of facilities, it was observed that there was a difficulty in securing the service supplying system. Furthermore, regarding many types of health and welfare services, it was also indicated that there were great differences in the amount of services per hundred of population of 65 years and over, among municipalities with a small population. In addition, as a result of the multiple regression analysis, it was clarified that the visiting guidance and the home help had a close relation to the number of public health nurses of each municipality. The establishment of the method for evaluating health and welfare services for the aged will become an important key for the improvement and expansion of such services in municipalities in future.

The purpose of this study was to identify the important factors which determine the correlation between the level of knowledge of medical information concerning home care services for the elderly. The level of knowledge by principal component score was correlated with the record of past medical examinations, educational background, expanded ADL total score, number of information outlets, and number of impersonal media. From the results of multiple regression analysis, the correlation factors were the number of impersonal media, expanded ADL total score, record of present medical examination, and educational background. The multiple correlation coefficient was 0.37. This paper discusses the present state of medical information based on the above results.

Case management is prevalent in the areas for helping the elder and the physically handicapped in Japan. This article discusses the possibility of introducing case management into the mental health area. The content of this article is to explain the historical background of establishing case management in the mental health area and present a recent model of case management for persons with schizophrenia, and point out a weak function of case management, studying some articles in the U.S. First, the discussion of the historical background clarifies the positive and negative causes of introducing case management into the mental health area in the U.S. Second, a recent model of case management shows that we especially have to discuss the following points. They are to establish assessment models for the purpose of doing case management in the mental health area, and use the skill of case management for each treatment task. Third, a weak function of case management is to develop social resources. If Japanese practitioners introduce case management into the mental health area, they will have to discuss the tasks above. Especially, psychiatric social workers have to examine social resources in the mental health area in Japan I would like to thank Dean James H. Ward, Ph.D. and Vikki Vandiver, Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Social Work in Portland State University.
