From the viewpoint of environmental protection,Eco-wires & cables are developed and commercialized in Japan. These Eco-wires & cables are composed of flame-retardant and non-halogen material that is so-called Eco-material and, when burned, emit no harmful gases including dioxins. This time, according to Eco-material, author has succeeded in finding out that Metallocene catalyzed C8-LLDPE are most suitable as the base polymer, and Mg(OH)2 are more suitable than Al(OH)3 as the flame-retardants. And also, the mechanism of Mg(OH)2 to make base polymer flame-retardant has been explained. In the next place, according to the Eco-material which contains high quantity of Mg(OH)2, four kinds of problems have been experienced. The 1st one is the oozing phenomenon of white MgCO3 powder. The 2nd one is the insulation resistance deterioration in alkaline water. The 3rd one is the perspiration on cable surface in acid atmosphere. The 4th one is the electrical flash over at cable terminal. And to solve these four problems, author has invented the double-layer insulation structure with pure polyethylene skin layer.
