In continuing the previous reports (This Journal,
58, 300-304 (1950);
59 18-21 and 533-539 (1951);
60 386-390 (1952);
61 379-382 and 435-440 (1953);
62 28-33 (1954)), the present authors reported in the present report, the results of the various comparative studies on (1) the microscopic researches of etched surfaces of various alumina cement clinkers produced by electric furnace melting, powdered coal or oil firing reverberatory furnace melting, etc., (2) differencial thermal analyses of various samples of alumina cement and various hydraulic calcium aluminates xCaO. yAl
2O
3, which were synthesized by high aluminous materials as alumina, bauxite, diaspore, alumina scum from aluminium reclaiming works, etc., and limey materials as lime, calcium carbonate, limestone, etc., and (3) various calcium aluminates of high alumina cements as the hydraulic component of castable refractories or hydraulic refractory cement mortars, etc. These results were summarized and fully discussed with 5 tables, 1 differencial thermal analysis curve and 4 microphotographs.
