A new species of Ranunculus (Ranunculaceae), R. horieanus Kadota, is described from Hokkaido, northern Japan. It resembles R. acris subsp. novus (H. Lév. & Vaniot) Vorosch. [= R. acris var. nipponicus H. Hara] but is distinguished from the latter by having obovate petals with short claws, hemispherical, small nectary pits, smaller nectary appendages, bi-bracteolate pedicels, patent sepals, divaricate, elongated branches and pedicels at fruiting time and smaller fruiting heads. Ranunculus horieanus is distributed in the northernmost part and the central part of Hokkaido and grows along mountain streams of lowlands (alt. 100-200 m).
A new species, Saussurea rolwalingensis (subgenus Saussurea section Cyathidium) is described from the Nepal Himalaya. It differs from S. donkiah C. B. Clarke ex L. S. Springate in having a well-developed fibrous rhizome and tubular involucres. Morphological comparisons between the new species and allied members of sect. Cyathidium from Nepal are presented.
A new species, Elymus lancangensis S. L. Lu & Y. H. Wu (Gramineae), is described and illustrated. The new species is related to E. debilis (L. B. Cai) S. L. Chen & G. Zhu. However, the former is distinguished from the latter by having glabrous culm nodes, auriculate sheath, generally secund spike, glabrous rachis internodes 8-15(-40) mm long, 5-7-flowered spikelets 15-22 mm long, awned lemmas 10-24 mm long and yellowish green or dark green anthers 1.5-1.8 mm long.
Crepidiastrixeris has been recognized as an intergeneric hybrid between Crepidiastrum and Ixeris, Paraixeris or Youngia, but the name is illegitimate. Three hybrid species have been recognized under the designation. Two of the three nothospecies are newly included and named in Crepidiastrum. Crepidiastrum xnakaii H. Ohashi & K. Ohashi is proposed for a hybrid previously known in hybrid formula Lactuca denticulatoplatyphylla Makino or Crepidiastrixeris denticulato-platyphylla (Makino) Kitam. Crepidiastrum xmuratagenii H. Ohashi & K. Ohashi is described based on a hybrid between C. denticulatum (Houtt.) J. H. Pak & Kawano and C. lanceolatum (Houtt.) Nakai instead of a previous designation Crepidiastrixeris denticulato-lanceolata Kitam.
