Many reports have been made on the hematological study of workers exposed to tri- and perchloroethylene vapors, but they covered small number of persons and only erythrocyte and leucocyte numbers and sometimes hemoglobin values were measured. The authors examined erythrocyte counts, leucocyte counts, hemoglobin values, hematocrit readings, specific gravity of blood and differential counts of leucocytes on 162 workers (male 136, female 26) exposed to above mentioned vapors, and found no remarkable abnormality in every item of examinations. This finding is in agreement with the results of almost all researches so far as the authors know, with but one exception.

    1) The sickness rate as well as the sickness absence rate of workers vary month after month and the former increases especially with the epidemic of cold. 2) No correlation was found in the monthly fluctuation of both rates. 3) Among the sickness rates that of common cold is the highest, the second being the digestive disorders while i the sickness absence rates this order is reversed. 4) These rates are both higher in female workers than in males. Married workers show higher rates than unmarried and manual workers than brain workers. 5) By age groups, 36-40 yrs. in male workers and 26-30 yrs. in females have the highest values in both rates. 6) Both rates due to oral diseases were reckoned with statistically only in the metal and chemical works.
