To determine the impregnative effects of the oscillating pressure method (OPM) for the pressure treatment of wood, a laboratory scaled OPM machine was prepared and impregnation tests of water-borne preservatives were carried out comparing with the conventional Bethell method. Four wood species, sugi (Cryptomeriajaponica), karamatsu (Larix leptolepsis), hemlock (Tsuga heterophylla), douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) and radiata pine (Pinus radiata), and two commercialpreservatives, CCA (JIS K 1554 Type 1) and DDAC (Penta-cure New BM
R, Xyence Co. Ltd.), were tested for this experiment.
