Evaluation of wood preservatives registered in Japan Agricultural Standards and/or Approved Quality against the drywood termite,
Incisitermes minor (Hagen)was performed. There is no official test method for the evaluation of wood preservatives against
I . minor in Japan now. Therefore, the test method considering the biology of
I . minor was investigated according to the laboratory test method for pressure treatments, JIS K 1571(2004), in which treated sapwood samples of sugi(20mm(T)×20mm(R)×10mm(L))were forced to feed on
Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki. In the case that twenty pseudergates of
I . minor were applied to the test under26°C, 75% R. H. for 6weeks, the average mass loss of untreated samples reached over 15%, satisfying the validity of the test in JIS K 1571. Those of treated with wood preservatives evaluated by the same test method were under3%, satisfying the threshold of JIS K 1571.
