In December 2020, the government decided on the “Strategy for Expanding Exports of Agricultural, Forestry, Fishery, and Food Products,” and in the strategy, lumber and plywood are taken up as priority items as forest products, and efforts are being made to expand exports of wood products. In China, one of the export destinations, the revision of Chinese domestic laws requires high quality, and testing based on Chinese national standards has been emphasized. In this report, the contents of the tests for wood conducted in accordance with Chinese national standards were summarized, and physical property tests and durability tests on heat-treated (Thermowood) Japanese cedar and Japanese cypress in accordance with Chinese national standards were conducted, and found that they all met the standards. The difference between the Chinese National Standard and the Japanese Industrial Standard for indoor decay resistance tests was also mentioned.
