This research elucidates the residential consciousness of the aged and examines their demands for housing improvements through the surveys of the residents in the Abeno ward in the Osaka city. The research areas are low-rise mainly with row houses and detached houses. Their housing satisfaction level and settling orientation are high, while there are, as they age, potential housing adversity such as fear for floor level differences, fear for stairs. People in their 50s are least satisfied with their housing conditions, while improvement orientation ratios are decreasing after the 50s, which is the highest. In summary, it is a task of great significance to support housing improvements with residential performance improvements such as barrier-free for care prevention for the potential aged in their 50s and early 60s regarding potential demands and cost of housing improvements.
