This paper deals with these three points; 1) The trend of a Condominium supply from 1973 to 1995 in the 4 regional hub cities, 2) The difference in trend depending on the city scale, 3) The role of a Condominium in the regional hub cities.
1) The number of providing Condominium have been increasing from the later of '80s because of the land price inflation, in regional hub cities. In the early of '70s the Condominium were provided mainly to the center of the city but the later of '80s, the target of the condominium offer was changed from inner area to suburb.
2) The city size of Sapporo or Hukuoka is bigger than that of Sendai or Hiroshima. So the number of housing supply in Sapporo or Hukuoka is about 2.5 times as many as that of Sendai or Hiroshima. In case of Sapporo or Hukuoka, the rate of the Condominium provision is comparatively small in the center of the city and the provision covers the wide area of the outer area.
3) In the center of the city, the dwelling size is about from 20m
2 to 100m
2, comparing suburb to the city center, the common dwelling size is 70m
2. Then the Condominium is popular style as a urban dwelling.
